My object in bringing this paper before the Institution is to suggest a comparatively inexpensive method whereby some experiments might be carried out to increase that knowledge. The apparatus needed consists of three parts: (1) a floating framework, (2) the ship structure to be tested, (3) the recording gear. Figs. 1 to 4 (Plate III.) show the arrangements of the floating framework, intended to be moored in an open sheet of water free from currents.
