It has been used extensively during the last few years in many plant biotechnology applications. This study aimed to examine the in vitro performance of diverse groups of tomato genotypes and the mode of inheritance of tomato callus induction. Moreover, we measure the effects of many recommended culture media recipes for callus induction ability. SDS-PAGE and RAPD-PCR were used to find out biochemical and molecular markers associated with this trait. Both molecular and biochemical markers associated with this trait offered a promising alternative to morphological marker as they can be analyzed at a very early stage of plant development and mostly display co-dominant inheritance.
