Public-Private Partnerships in Health Care in India: Lessons for Developing Countries - edition reliée, livre de poche

ISBN: 9780415467285

[ED: Hardcover], [PU: ROUTLEDGE CHAPMAN HALL], The book examines how the private sector in developing countries, specifically India, is tapped to deliver health care services to poor and underserved sections of population, through collaborative arrangements with the government. Public-private partnerships are increasingly advocated to alleviate deficiencies in the public health system as well as to reduce economic stress on those who seek services from an expensive, burgeoning and unregulated private health sector. This book examines how the private sector in India is tapped to deliver health care services to poor and underserved sections of population, through collaborative arrangements with the government. Various aspects of public-private partnership are examined as it has emerged as a key reform initiative: the genesis of private sector partnerships, the modes of how the private sector is encouraged to deliver public health services, and the models and formats that make such partnerships possible. Based on in-depth case studies from different states of India, and drawing on relevant experiences in other countries, the authors analyse challenges, opportunities and benefits of implementing public-private partnerships. This book explores whether partnership with the private sector can be designed to deliver health care services to the poor as well as the consequences for beneficiaries. It will be of interest to scholars of public policy and development administration, health policy and development economics as well as South Asian Studies. Table of contents: 1. Background and Introduction 2. Public-Private Partnership: Concepts and Theories 3. Stakeholder Perspectives on Partnership 4. Comparative Experiences in Public-Private Partnership 5. Public-Private Partnerships in India 6. Lessons and Policy Implications 240 p., 5 b/w tab. - 234 x 156 mm Versandfertig in über 4 Wochen, [SC: 0.00], Neuware, gewerbliches Angebot
