Author Biography Geoffrey Burgess combines musicological research with an international career as oboist. After studies in Sydney, Australia, he was granted a Dutch Government Scholarship to study Baroque oboe with Ku Ebbinge. From the mid-1980s he has performed extensively in Europe, Australia, and more recently the United States. Geoffrey completed a doctoral degree degree at Cornell University in 1997 and his dissertation was awarded the Donald J. Grout Award.
