While en route to her grandmother's house in a small town in North Dakota, Elizabeth Robins is abducted and forced to endure physical and emotional abuse at the hands of a deranged sheriff. After being dumped in a ditch and left to die, the young woman is found and cared for by a kind and gentle young man.
