Others concentrate on techniques of marketing, personne management and the assessment of profitabiity. Part III focuses on the techniques of manage meat that have been used to motivate or contro the deveopment of business activity. The studies incude an anaysis of the roe of accounting data and other types of information, aids to forecasting, market anaysis and the probems of risk and uncertainty in business decision making within various contexts. The editor has not ony provided an introduction to the reprinted artices but he has aso incuded, in Part IV, severa specia appendices usefu for future research in business history. There is a section on aowing for changes in the unit of account. Another appendix deas with the merits and imitations of financia ratio anaysis. An extensive bibiography is aso provided.
